Nessie is pregnant. Nessie is pregnant. Nessie is pregnant.

The words resounded in his mind, a repetitive mantra that hadn't stopped since that morning when she had dropped the bombshell news. He was thrilled and terrified all at the same time. On one hand, they hadn't been sure that this would be possible at all. On the other hand, he was going to be a father. Him. Jacob Black. He was going to be a dad. All day he had been doting over Nessie, following her around and not letting her lift a finger to do anything. His normally overprotective nature was in over drive and only getting worse. He couldn't help it.

So it was, that he walked up the stairs of their home to the bedroom carrying a tray. On the tray was a bowl of soggy oatmeal with too much water in it. A slice of buttered toast that even the mass of butter on top couldn't hide the burnt black nature of it, and a bowl of sliced and peeled grapefruit, all of the juice accidentally squeezed out by Jacob's giant hands. But make no mistake. Jacob was quite proud of this cacophony of food. He rarely if ever stepped in a kitchen. Here, he had prepared a whole meal and had done quite well at it if he did say so himself.

He pushed open the bedroom door to find Nessie where he had left her in bed reading a book. "Hey, I made you food." He placed the tray down proudly in her lap. Nessie couldn't help smiling at the tray. She'd been regulated to bed by Jacob, forbidden to help Esme or Alice cook for the pack or herself. She couldn't begrudge or even complain about Jacob's over protectiveness. Chances were, they'd only have one shot at this. She was more than willing to go along with the overprotective nature that Jacob was exhibiting and that she was certain the rest of the Cullens would be only too happy to pick up should Jacob slip there.

"It looks good," she told him. It was a little bit of a white lie but she couldn't help it when he'd made that effort. Whether it tasted good or not really wouldn't matter to Nessie. She ate because her body required it but she preferred the taste of blood over everything else. "Sit down with me," she told him as she put the book aside. "If I have to stay in bed, so do you."

She took a bite of the watery oatmeal. It wasn't bad. He'd put plenty of sugar and butter in it. Enough of those two and most things could be made up for. It took a lot of butter and sugar to make the sloppy mess look good.

"Well I won't argue with that right now." Jacob said, crawling into bed to watch Renesmee eat. Eventually he would go nuts in here though and have to go outside. But right now he hadn't reached that point yet. "It's really hard to cut a grapefruit. Did you know that?"

Nessie laughed at that and shook her head. She grabbed a piece of the fruit in question and took a bite, even though it was a little juiceless. "Esme usually cuts all the fruit." She'd end up going crazy in the house before long too. She was afraid that'd be a little bit of a fight but she was going to be pregnant for a while, she couldn't spend all of her time in bed. She leaned over and kissed his cheek. "Thank you."

He leaned into the kiss at his cheek. "You're welcome. I'm gonna take care of you. I'm pretty stubborn but I can learn to do stuff and be kind of useful here and there. And you don't have to do anything. I should get you a bell that you can ring... or a whistle." His face twisted as he thought for a moment and then added. "A pager?"

Nessie laughed at that and shook her head. "I don't need a bell or a whistle or a pager. You can hear me just fine," she promised him. "I'm pregnant, Jacob. Not terminally ill and I'm not going to be able to spend the entire time in bed. There are things I can do you know." She took another bite of oatmeal and a bite of toast. It was better mixed with the oatmeal, the sugar and the butter covering up the burnt taste a bit.

"No crazy talk, Nessie. You're just gonna chill out." Jacob answered, sitting up to guide Renesmee to sit forward a bit so that he could fluff her pillow against the headboard. "A pager would be less annoying but all the movies and tv shows have bells and whistles. Oh! A blow horn."

"No," Nessie laughed again as she leaned forward and let Jacob fluff her pillow up against the headboard. This was worse than when she was sick. At least then she'd felt bad. She didn't feel bad at all right now. "There is no way you're going to get me a blow horn and there is no way I'm staying in bed for the next nine months. Not unless you're staying here with me."

Jacob smirked, looking at her as if she were speaking Greek. "No way, are you kidding? I'm not staying in here for forever. I have to go be a wolf sometimes. We're going to take turns. I've already discussed it with Alice and Barbie girl. They think it's a great idea, Rose even said it was... first compliment she's ever paid me. They said they would talk to everyone else."

"Jacob...no. There is no way I'm going to let you and Alice and Rose wait on me hand and foot. I feel good. This isn't like when Mom was sick with me. I am not staying in bed for nine months. I will take it easy though. Easy by my standards, not yours or Rose's or even Alice's. I'll listen to Carlisle too."

His features twisted into a mixture of confusion, amusement and annoyance at that. There was no way he was letting Nessie do too much. This baby was a big deal. This baby was theirs and they had been through a lot to get here to this point. "I think you're out numbered, Nessie."

"And I think someone will have to tackle me to stop me and I don't think anyone is going to do that," Nessie told him with a smirk. "I know how important this baby is. I know this is probably our only chance at this. I'm not going to take any risks." She set the tray aside and scooted closer to Jacob, cupping his cheek with the palm of her hand. "I love you. I love our baby and I want this more than anything but I also want to be sane when I have this baby and if I have to be locked in this room until then, I will go crazy."

He could understand that, but he didn't like it. "I don't want anything bad to happen, Nessie. Come on, work with me. I can do stuff for you."

"I plan on letting you do stuff for me. It's your fault I'm going to get fat," she teased him. "I will work with you and I will let you do pretty much anything you want to do for me. You have to work with me too. Okay?"

For a long minute, Jacob seemed to consider this. He watched her, reaching up to push a curl back behind her ear. "Okay, but I don't have to like it."

"Okay," Nessie agreed with him. She ran her fingertips down his cheek and over the curve of his neck, pausing at the scar there. "Have you eaten today?"

"Yeah, I had a pie. You need to eat though. You didn't finish it all." He pointed to the tray with half eaten food on it.

Nessie stuck her tongue out at Jacob and leaned forward to take a bite of oatmeal. She popped a piece of grapefruit in her mouth and watched Jacob from beneath her lashes. "So what's the plan for today?"

"I don't have a plan. I just made you food. Do we need a plan?" Jacob asked, watching her eat. "I just wanted you to eat, stay in bed and let me take care of you, Nessie. That's all. Don't you want to just stay in bed and let me get you whatever you want?"

"Like I'm going to argue about spending the whole day in bed with you. I'm pretty sure we still qualify as newlyweds, pregnant or not," Nessie told him with a smile. She took a bite of toast to keep him happy.

Jacob shook his head, glancing down to the sheets and back up. "No, I mean... if you need anything let me know and I can get it. If you want to do anything tell me and I'll try to make it happen. You know..." He grinned. "Use me."

Nessie couldn't help but laugh outright at that. "Jacob Black, did you just tell me to use you?" she teased him. She put one hand on his knee and walked her fingers up to his inner thigh, stopping there and looking up at him with a mischievous look.

"Yeah." At first Jacob's eyebrows lifted in amusement and then he hesitated and put his hand over hers. "Wait. Can we do that? We can't do that."

Nessie smirked at Jacob. "I'm already pregnant. What do you think is going to happen?" she teased him. "I'm pretty sure we can do that but I can call Carlisle and ask him if you want."

He wrinkled his nose in horror. "Oh, no way. You are not calling anyone to ask them that. No."

Nessie laughed and shifted so that she was on her knees. She put one hand on the curve of his neck, the other one tangled in his hair as she pulled him close for a kiss. "Then shut up and let me use you," she whispered against his lips.

Jacob inhaled a slow, deep breath and vocally exhaled that breath with a groan. How did he say no to that? "Well..." He leaned forward and pressed a kiss to her lips. "Just this once. And then no more until we have a baby. Okay?"

She'd agree to it now but only because she was well aware that Jacob had no idea how to say no to her. "Whatever you say, Mr. Black," she whispered.

[Small Talk]

The candles in the room have guttered down to almost nothing, Occasionally the flames are fanned and then almost blown out by the breeze whistling through the inch of open window between the sills. It makes shadows flicker across their bodies and then retreat as if they are creatures venturing close only to be scared away, a little like the curious deer on the island they left so recently.

“The cold is kind of nice. I think I missed it,” Nessie says as she trials her fingertips over Jacob’s arm.

“Yeah. It was always hot on the island,” Jacob smiles lazily as he takes a deep breath. His chest rises and falls beneath her. “But the bikinis were nice.” He cracks open one eye, his grin tugs up one corner of his mouth.

“Nothing says I can’t wear the bikinis here,” Nessie flirts back with a giggle. “I just can’t wear them outside or I’ll risk frost bite.”

“I’d never let it happen,” Jacob promises. “I like your toes and your fingertips way too much.”

Nessie grins and walks her fingertips up his arm, across the scar on his neck to his lips. She rests them there until his kisses them then draws them back. “Being married is good.” At first it’s a statement then she looks up to him, her eyes searching his face. “Right?”

“You kidding? Marriage is great,” Jacob assures her. His brow furrows after a moment and he sits up slight, dragging Nessie with him. “You happy?”

“Yeah. Very,” Nessie nods as she straightens a little, curling up into Jacob as she pulls a blanket up beneath her chin. “It was just fast and it was for the whole baby thing, that hasn’t happened yet and I just-“ she stops, biting her bottom lip and shrugging.

“Well don’t,” Jacob tells her. “I married you because I love you, Renesmee. Since the day you were born, I was always going to marry you. Yeah…we moved the date up a little bit because of the deadline but that doesn’t change why I married you.”

That answer makes a smile curve across Nessie’s mouth, chasing away her insecurities and worries. She presses a kiss to his shoulder.

“Are you hungry? It’s kind of late but I bet there are leftovers from lunch in the fridge. We could go heat them up.”

“Uh oh. The newlywed is already wearing off. You’re volunteering to get out of bed,” Jacob jokes, the laughter tickling through his words.

In response, Nessie nips at the scar on his neck and tilts her head up to whisper in his ear. “Nope. I’m just thirsty but I don’t want you too weak after wards.”

“I could always eat after wards,” Jacob offers, tilting his head to the side, exposing his neck. It’s an invitation, almost a plea.

Nessie shakes her head, her lips just brushing his ear lobe. “Nope. Eat first then fun then I’ll have a bite.” She wiggles out of his grasp, dragging the blanket with her and wrapping it around her body, laughing as she walks backwards. She opens the front door of the small cottage and steps over the threshold. “Coming, Husband?”

In answer he wraps the sheets around his waist and follows through the snow to the Cullen house. The lower level is empty and dark, unable to bear witness to the lover’s tryst. Food ends up strung across the kitchen, plates knocked to the floor and thirst sated long before they ever make it back to the cottage. Nessie has always been bad at small talk.

[I am…]

“I’m angry at you,” Nessie said. She kept her eyes on the fire Carlisle had built in the fireplace. Jacob was sitting beside her trailing kisses over her shoulder and up her neck.

“You are not,” he whispered against her skin.

“I totally am. It’s our first married fight,” Nessie responded, a little too gleeful. She had her hands wrapped around a mug of hot chocolate. Esme had made it from scratch.

“It is not,” Jacob argued playfully.

“It is. You let Emmett drag you away from the bedroom.” She was trying hard to keep the giggles out of her voice.

“I had to eat. Otherwise, you don’t get to snack,” Jacob grinned as he nipped her neck with his teeth. He could hear and smell the giggles she was struggling to keep back. She smelled like shaken up champagne when she was happy.

“Hmmm I’m stashing food in our place. That way you don’t have any excuse. You know you just wanted to watch Emmett knock Daddy around.”

Jacob chuckled because he couldn’t even begin to deny that. “Maybe just a little. I was surprised though. Edward’s fast.”

“Yup, Emmett always underestimates that,” Nessie said, any pretense at anger slipping away while Jacob continued to kiss her neck. The other Cullens were draped around the darkened living room at least pretending to pay attention to the TV. Jacob pressed a kiss to the hollow beneath her ear, her jawline and then the corner of her mouth. Nessie canted her head back so that her lips met his. The kiss grew heated within seconds.

“Still angry at me?” Jacob asked breathlessly.

“You’re forgiven…this time,” Nessie smiled at him. She squealed, shrieking with laughter when Jacob scooped her up in his arms and started out of the living room.

“We’ll be back later,” Nessie giggled. “To feed Jacob.”

[Mistletoe]

“Get a room,” Emmett crowed as he walked into the room. It was almost instinct at this point. He didn’t actually have to see Jacob and Nessie making out underneath the mistletoe to spur the comment.

However, they were in fact making out under the mistletoe. It always started out as a kiss but the kisses quickly became racier because Jacob had to pick Nessie up to kiss her. Her arms went around his neck and her legs around his waist and well…they ended up prompting Emmett to tell them to get a room.

Jacob set Nessie back on her feet with a disgruntled glare to Emmett. “Don’t you have a wife to kiss under the mistletoe too? Think you’re slacking, Emmett.”

“You kidding? Rose had to go rest after our last ‘kiss’ under the mistletoe,” Emmett joked as he tossed himself onto the couch, half reclining. He grabbed the remote and started flipping through channels.

“It’s payback, Emmett. All these Christmas’ I’ve watched you and Rose, Esme and Carlisle, Dad and Mom and even Jasper and Alice kiss under the mistletoe. All those gagging noises and ewwws…yup. Payback. Also, I have a really hot husband,” Nessie teased.

“That smells,” Emmett quipped back, a grin spread across his face. “Seriously. Go knock down a house that’s not this one.”

“Maybe we already have,” Nessie said, sticking her tongue out at Emmett.

Emmett looked up at her and then over at Jacob. He rolled his eyes and grinned. “Fine. I’ll get Jazz, Carlisle and Edward together. We’ll go fix it later.”

“Thank you!” Nessie quipped as she walked over, bent at the waist and kissed Emmett’s cheek. “Don’t tell Jasper, you’re the best uncle,” she whispered in his ear, well aware almost anyone in their house could hear anyway. It didn’t matter. She always told Jasper that he was the best uncle and not to tell Emmett.

Emmett beamed at her and ruffled her hair. “I know,” he told her.

“In the mean time…” Jacob interrupted, pointing up to the chandelier above his head festooned with mistletoe.

It's like Crusoe...kind of [RP for [info]idont_fightfair] [info]gift_a_muse
The island was gorgeous, warm and with the exception of the Cullens and the Pack, completely isolated. It was primarily rain forest, an entirely different environment than they were used to. Nessie and Jacob had spent a lot of time in their cottage but today they were getting out to explore the island. Nessie had on a bikini with a sarong wrapped around her hips. She was barefoot and Jacob was shirtless, a pair of cut-off cargos hanging off his hips. The Cullens and the wolves were off doing their own thing and for the most part, trying to stay out of the newlyweds way.

[Truth: Discuss something you hate participating in]

The instructions are in Spanish (something to do with having been bought in the airport in Rio) but even if she weren’t fluent in Spanish the illustrations made everything clear enough. Jacob is out running the island with the other wolves and Nessie is sitting in the bathroom with her back against the door. She’s got her cell phone in one hand, the stopwatch counting down seconds and there’s an inexplicable thirst burning hot in her throat.

She knows it’s too early to expect anything. They’ve only been married a month and sleeping together less than that. She’s knows the odds are against it, regardless of how they’ve tried to stack them in their favor. She knows all of this and yet she can’t stop herself from hoping. Her chest squeezes tight as the time ticks down and she closes her eyes, the back of her head pressing against the door. Her heart is hammering in protest of either the vice on her chest or the anxiety that waiting produces. Finally the timer goes off, the beep echoing in the tiled room.

One line. One line. She can’t remember what one line means. Her eyes skim over the directions on the box, the Spanish not making any sense at all right now. After a deep breath, held until she’s a bit afraid she’s turning blue, the illustrations offer some hope.

One line. No embarazadas. No embarazadas. Not pregnant.

She exhales slowly, almost a sigh as she gets up and tosses the test in the trashcan. She’s not going to cry because it’s too soon to expect anything. She’s not going to cry because this is what happens. When she opens the bathroom door, Alice is sitting on the edge of the bed. She doesn’t say anything, just pats the bed beside her. Nessie gives her a tight smile, tears that she wasn’t going to cry well in her eyes as she sits down next to her aunt. Alice wraps her arm around her and kisses the top of her head. Her fingers trail through Nessie’s hair, stroking her back .
Her tears are silent, never a flood, just a trickle. Finally she speaks, words sound clogged up.

“Don’t tell Jacob? I don’t want him to know I was upset.”

“Never,” Alice promises, making a locking motion against her lips with her thumb and index finger. She tosses the imaginary key over her shoulder. The action makes Nessie smile a little and she swipes at the tears on her cheeks.

“Its gonna happen, right?”

“Oh, Nessie. Baby girl,” Alice coos. “It’s going to happen.”

[Road Trip]

Co-written with [info]idont_fightfair and [info]letme_showyou

Esme had made a huge breakfast for Jacob and Nessie. Seth had wandered in and gobbled food down before running to school. Embry had grabbed a couple of pieces of bread with eggs and bacon between it and ambled out to his job. He did handyman and construction around the reservation. Jacob and Nessie were sprawled across the floor on the rug, watching TV. The rest of the Cullens were wandering in and out. It was cold outside and snowing lightly but nothing was sticking. Today was a test of sorts. The newlyweds had decided to try and spend the better part of the day out of bed. Thus far, it was proving to be incredibly dull.

"I'm bored," Nessie declared with a sigh. She was twining a strand of her hair around one finger and then letting it go to spring back up. "Let's go on a road trip. Just go drive fast for a little while."

Jacob, on the other hand was willing to do anything to avoid packing. He hated packing and it felt like they had just returned home and unpacked from their honeymoon. Now they were packing again for the impending family trip to Esme Island. He was just about to go try to work on the Camaro when Renesmee announced that she wanted to go for a drive. Hey, it was something. He sat up and nodded. "Sure, sure. We can take the Mustang. The engine on that one is killer."

Renesmee was avoiding packing as well. She knew if she waited long enough, Alice would do it. In fact there was a good chance Alice had already done the packing for her. Nessie got to her feet with Jacob, yelling (even though she didn't need to) "We're going for a drive! I'll take my cell." She grabbed her jacket from the hall closet and her purse then held her hand out for Jacob's. "Of course it is. You built it," she said with a grin. "I like the mustang. It has a bench seat and I can sit right next to you." Seat belts were pretty much ridiculous for either of them. They could be hurt but almost anything would heal.

Walking out to the garage, Jacob nabbed the keys to the Mustang off of one of the pegs on the wall. He opened the passenger side door for Renesmee and then walked around to get into the driver's seat. With the key in the ignition, the engine roared to life. The sound rumbled loudly and echoed off of the walls. He looked back as he pulled out of the expansive garage, turned around and peeled out of the drive along the gravel road. "Left or right at the road?"

"Hmmm, left," Nessie said as she fiddled with the radio on the mustang. She was bundled up in a coat and she had the heater on but she didn't like to blast it because Jacob would end up cooking. Instead she scooted across the seat and curled up next to him. "Sometimes I forget how nice it is just to get in the car and drive."

"How does that happen when you have me for a boyfr-... husband?" It took some time to get used to the husband and wife thing. But when he said it, it made him grin. "I'm pretty sure forgetting how nice it is to drive should be impossible. Otherwise it's pretty near blasphemy in my book, Ness."

Nessie giggled and shrugged. "You'll have to remind me more often then. No more slacking, Husband," she teased him with a big grin; calling him husband had the same effect on her as it did on him. She pressed a kiss to his shoulder and unbuttoned her coat. She found a song she liked on the radio but kept it low, listening to the roar of the engine and watching out the window as trees flew by. "This being married stuff is fun. You get new names and no one tells me to go play barbies with Claire."

"Who says I'm slacking? Maybe it's you forgetting to appreciate." He joked, casting a sideways glance to her as he turned left out of the long drive onto the main road. Pedal to the metal, the engine roared as they lurched forward and accelerated to speed limits that broke laws. "New names? My name is still the same ol' same ol'. You got a new last name though. Marriage is biased... or sexist... or one of those weird words that aren't fair."

Nessie stuck her tongue out at him with a giggle at his comment about not appreciating. "I think I do an excellent job of appreciating," she teased him. When the car lurched forward, she braced herself with a foot against the dash then relaxed when the speed leveled out. "I was talking about me being able to call you husband now. Instead of boyfriend. I like being Renesmee Black though," she told him as she looked up at him. "I guess we could hyphen and both be Cullen-Black. We've still got passports and papers somewhere that make us Jacob Wolfe and Vanessa Wolfe."

"I think your parents would like you to be a Cullen-Black. I'll be a Black... your Black. How's that?" Jacob asked, accelerating even more.

"How can I argue with anything that makes you mine?" Nessie asked with a smile. She ran her fingers over his arm as he drove. "In fact, to the contrary, I'm a big fan of everything that makes you mine. Imprinting, weddings, last names...Hmmmm, I think that's about it." She walked her fingers over his shoulder and up his neck to run her fingertips along the stubble on his jaw. He hadn't shaved this morning and she liked the way the stubble felt against her fingertips. "You look older when you don't shave," she commented idly.

Jacob grinned and glanced to Renesmee for a few moments before looking back to the road. "Okay, so now I have to ask if that older in a good way or older in a bad way. Cause I'm not ready to look older in a bad way."

She pulled her bottom lip between her teeth, pretending to contemplate the question for a little while. "In a good way," she finally said with a laugh, running her fingers over his jawline again. "It's sexy stubble." She leaned in, tilting her head to press a kiss against his jaw. "Like you could look bad at all anyway but if you start looking older, I'm going to start keeping track of how often you phase 'cause you can get older but you can't get old."

That was her greatest fear. Jacob would get old and leave her alone. Most of the time she didn't think about it. It was easy to ignore in her family since no one got old but sometimes someone would say something, or she'd watch a movie or they'd visit with Billy and she'd realize how much older he looked than he had the first time she'd seen him. Luckily, Jacob felt the same way and changed often.

"Like you need to keep track. I like being a wolf. Quit worrying about that already." He rolled his eyes playfully. He knew that she worried about his growing old her not. But all he could do was let time answer that fear for both of them. "Go back to telling me that I look the good kind of older."

Nessie laughed and sat up a little straighter. She ran her hand over his jawline and cheek, letting the stubble tickle her skin. She leaned in to whisper in his ear, her breath against his skin. "You look older of the very sexy, very good kind." She kissed the hollow below his ear and ran her hand over his shoulders to rest her hand at the nape of his neck. About that time they heard sirens behind them.

"Crap," Nessie said as she looked up in the rear view mirror then looked over her shoulder to see the patrol car behind them.

Jacob pulled the car over and looked up in the rear view mirror and saw the patrol car. When Charlie stepped out of it, he rolled his eyes. "It's your Grandad."

Charlie walked up beside the Mustang, lightly tapping the side of it as he went. Finally at the window, he put a hand on the car door and leaned down. "Jacob, Nessie." He looked around and then back at the two in the car. If he grinned, he would have been right then. Nessie waved at Charlie and grinned.

"Hi, Grandpa."

"Hey Charlie." Jacob mustered the best, most innocent smile that he could. "We were going kind of fast, huh?"

"Kind of?" Charlie asked.

Jacob tried not to laugh, and instead ducked his head. "Okay, really fast."

"Where you two headed?" Charlie asked as he looked further into the car.

Nessie shrugged in answer. "Road trip. We just decided to take off and drive."

Charlie nodded and looked over the car. "This one you restored, Jacob? She's a beauty."

"Yeah, yeah I restored her. It took awhile to get all the parts I needed but I finally got her running. She purrs like a kitten." Jacob revved the engine and smiles spread over both his and Charlie's lips. "Right now I'm working on an old Camaro."

"Someday you should come by and let me try her out." Charlie said. "Don't care which one, you pick."

Jacob nodded. "Anytime, Charlie. You bet."

He patted the door again. "You kids slow it down, alright? Next time you might not get so lucky. Get pulled over by someone who isn't me."

"Sure, sure. We'll slow it down. It's good to see you." Jacob said.

"Good to see you too. Bye Jacob." Charlie leaned down to smile at Renesmee. "Bye Nessie."

Nessie waved at Charlie and rested her chin on top of Jacob's shoulder, watching until Charlie got into the car. She laughed at Jacob and kissed his cheek. "I think being stopped by the cops officially end a road trip." She put one hand on his knee and trailed her fingers up his inner thigh. "What do you say to taking the car back and spending the rest of the day in our bed? That resolving to spend the better part of the day out of bed is the worst idea we've ever had."

"If there's one thing that I know it's that the girl is always right."

[Do something you know you shouldn’t]

Nessie tugged her bottom lip between her teeth and watched Jacob from underneath her lashes. She was almost blatantly not touching him. Her back was pressed against the corner of the seat and her bare feet were up in the seat, heels against the back of her thighs, toes curling against the leather of the plane’s seat. Esme and Carlisle had chartered a jet to take them to Rio because the logistics of trying to get this many people on a commercial flight, plus luggage were a near nightmare. She reached up and tucked her hair behind her ears, an idea percolating in her head. She glanced over the headrest of the seat in front of her to see her parents sitting across the plane. Edward cocked one eyebrow up at her then let it fall. It was not quite a warning. Nessie rolled one shoulder response and caught Alice’s reaction out of the corner of her eye. She was sticking her tongue out at Edward. He glared at her and Alice laughed softly, curling into Jasper almost as if for protection.

Nessie shook her head and looked back to Jacob who was looking at her puzzled. She laughed and reached out to put her hand on his thigh, fingers pressing lightly into his inner thigh. She pulled her bottom lip between her teeth again, grinning at him mischievously as she bombarded him with images. She stood up, sliding past his knees and leaned in to whisper in his ear. “Count to thirty.” It was always the number they’d agreed upon when playing hiding and seek when she was little. Shock and maybe a little panic froze him at first. There was a wild glance to Edward then he stared after Nessie. She could hear the numbers finally tumble over his lips much too fast then leveling out. “12345…6…7…8…”

Once in the tiny bathroom, Nessie started shedding clothes. One of the best things about Alice’s shopping? It now included lots and lots of pretty, lacy underwear. She was pretty sure Jacob didn’t make it to thirty and if he had, she would have been disappointed. Getting his clothes off in the little bathroom incited a round of giggles, laughter and several bumped elbows and heads. The giggles tapered off, turning into quiet moans, whispered names and throaty, stifled groans. There was one muttered, audible “Fuck, Ness, I think we broke the plane,” but broken planes and cracked sinks were quickly forgotten in favor of tangled limbs and sweat-slick skin.

Afterwards, getting dressed became another comedic event. Nessie banged her head against Jacob’s chin while she was trying to get dressed and she collapsed in a fit of giggles against him. “Okay, you’re still mostly wearing pants and they all know what we’re doing in here. Go outside and I’ll get dressed in here. It’s either you half naked in front of them or me…” She dangled the shreds of lace and ribbon that had once been a bra.

Jacob ducked his head and if he could blush, he would have. “…yeah. Embry and Seth don’t need to see you half naked.”

“Exactly.”

Approximately 2.5 seconds after Jacob stepped out of the bathroom, shutting the door behind him, Nessie heard the slap of a high five and Emmett bellowing throughout the plane.

“Score! The Mile High Club is awesome.”

[A list of habits]

-I swear Jacob has this permanent groove right below his thumb on his left hand. It’s because whenever we’re just resting, watching TV or he’s reading to me or telling me stories, I rest my teeth in his hand there. Never enough pressure to break the skin, just enough to feel that resistance against my teeth and taste his skin. Sometimes I fall asleep like that but I never bite him there because I think it’d hurt him. He’d never say anything, just let me hurt him.

-Whenever I’m worried about something, how it’s going to turn out or if it’s going to turn out I go sit with Alice and let her play with my hair. Most of the time she doesn’t give me details because I’m not usually very forthcoming with what’s wrong. She can always tell when something is wrong though and she pulls my hair back, run her fingers through it a few times and then lean over and whisper in my ear. “It’s going to be alright, Nessie Bo Bessie.”

And I believe her, because she’s Alice and she may not give me details but she won’t ever lie to me either.

-I forget to use my words. Especially with Daddy. I’ll have whole conversations with him and never say a word. It’s easy to curl up next to him and just think what I want him to know. I’ve gotten really good with my ability so I can just touch someone anywhere and transmit what I want them to see or hear. I do the same thing with Jacob, sans the telepathy. He talks. I show.

-I tug on my hair a lot. I twirl it around my finger and pull at it. Usually when I’m thoughtful but sometimes just when I’m bored. I’ve started doing it more because I’ve noticed Jacob stares a lot when I do it.

[A list of addictions]
-Jacob

-Jacob’s blood

-Staying in bed all day and all night.

-When Jacob does that thing with his tongue.

-Chocolate (I think this is pretty common isn’t it?)

-And Jacob should be mentioned again because since we’ve been married, an hour is too long away.

[A list of Hopes]

-An eternity as happy and as full of love as everything is right now. In short, an eternity of days just like the last couple of weeks.

-A baby. Alice isn’t worried so I’m not. It’s really too soon for anything to happen anyway.

-That we’re all wrong. That just because I’m immortal doesn’t mean time freezes me the way it froze Alice, Esme, Rose and my Mom.

-That even if it does, Jacob won’t ever resent me for it. (maybe that should be a fear? It doesn’t feel like one though. It feels more like a hope.)

-That we all get to stay together. Forever.

[What do you do when you’re bored?]

Set when Nessie is about five or six

“Jacob, I’m bored,” Nessie announced as she flounced into the room and rested her elbows on the edge of the car he was working on. She was dressed in a neat, pale pink dress with lace on the hem and her hair had been caught up in a pony tail.

“I thought you had school with Jasper this morning,” Jacob said as he glanced over at her then put his wrench on top of the engine block and straightened up, grabbing a rag to wipe his hands on.

“I did. I learned so well and so quickly that he let me go early,” Renesmee told him. “And now I’m bored.”

Jacob grinned, reaching out to tug at her pony tail. “Guess you shouldn’t have learned so fast.”

Nessie stuck her tongue out at him in response. “Or you could come play with me.”

Jacob shook his head and chuckled. “I’m supposed to fix this car for someone and it’s supposed to be done by tomorrow night.”

Nessie wrinkled her nose, peering over into the hood of the car. She kicked her heel into the bumper. “Stupid car,” she pouted, crossing her arms over her chest. For all her big words and flawless articulation, she was still very much a child at times.

It only took Jacob a moment and one glance at her face to make a decision. He swooped her up with both hands underneath her arms and held her up above his head before swinging her up onto his shoulders to sit. “Duck your head,” he instructed as they went through the doorway. Nessie did so with a giggle. She rested one hand on top of his head, the other reached above her to tickle her fingertips over leaves that were ordinarily out of reach.

Forks being Forks, it wasn’t long before a light drizzle started. “Do you want to go back?” Jacob asked with a glance up at her face. She shook her head in response, ponytail swishing back and forth. Nessie tilted her face up to the rain, her arms stretched high over her head amongst the leaves.

["There are a lot of ways to say I love you. Fucking is the fastest."]

a bit of a companion piece to this

She doesn’t notice when he leaves, the bed still warm from his body but she notices when he returns. The slide of overheated skin against hers makes her whimper as she moves into the warmth. Arms encircle her as his hands slip down her back. Fingertips trickle over her spine, calluses scrape against the silky smooth of her back and she arches into the touch. It doesn’t take much to combust, heat and fire, sparks flaring into flame. His lips on the hollow of her throat pull the whispered prayer of his name from deep inside of her. Her prayer prompts his own whispered redemption, her name against his teeth. She tangles one hand in his hair, binding them both there in that moment.

Later, his breath against the nape of her neck, heavy limbs tangled; alabaster and copper perfectly twined. His skin is marked by her, bites and bruises while hers remains pristine but not from lack of attention. Their skin is still damp, breath still panting and she wants him again. She thinks this hunger is supposed to ebb but it’s done nothing of the sort. Her body aches from the constant scratch and claw of need. She trembles against him, afraid for a moment that this need will consume her the way that bloodlust threatens to consume other vampires.

“Is everyone like this?” Nessie asks as she places a kiss to his wrist, tongue slipping out to taste his skin, gliding over the scar there. It’s impossible for her to be next to him, feeling him, touching him and not taste him.

Jacob shrugs lazily in response, his lips against the back of her neck, ghosting over her skin. She bites her lip, checking the moan he tugs from within her. She turns in his arms, changing the configuration of their limbs but neither the closeness nor the entanglement. Her lips collide with his, teeth and tongues, biting and sipping; laziness banished.

“How do they ever get anything done?” she asks rhetorically against his mouth. He swallows her words, replacing them with touch and taste. She used to try to put into words what she and Jacob were, what they meant, what they could be but the actions were more appropriate all along.

[Can You Hear Me Now?]

Nessie had the blankets pulled up to her chin, giggles trickling out with nearly every breath. Her hair was a tangle of mussed curls around her face. She shoved one hand back through them, pushing them away from her face.

“Can you hear me now?” she whispered.

“Yup!” Jacob hollered from the living room.

That response caused another riot of giggles. “Go in the guest room and shut the door!” Nessie half yelled, the words all tangled up with her giggles.

She waited until she heard the click of the guest room door shutting. Her hearing was excellent, well above human range but Jacob’s was better. “Can you hear me now?” she whispered.

“I can still hear you!” he yelled back.

Nessie giggled, tilting her head back against the pillows. “Go outside!” They were in the middle of nowhere on a beach in Prince Edward Island. No one was going to see them and Jacob had lost his modesty about the time he’d become a wolf.
She heard the front door shut and she waited, snuggling down deeper into the bed. She gave him a moment then whispered “Can you hear me now?”

In answer there was one long howl. She knew he heard better in wolf form and that made her giggle again. “Cheater!” she yelled. “Go out further! Into the woods.”

She counted to ten then whispered again. She was answered by a more distant howl. A smile tugged at the corners of her lips. “Now come back in here! The bed’s cold without you!”

There was one short howl; a few seconds later Jacob was crawling back into bed. “Can you hear me now?” Nessie whispered.

This time, he kissed her in answer.

["Sit with a pretty girl for an hour and it feels like a minute. Put your hand on a hot stove for a minute and it feels like an hour. That's relativity" - Albert Einstein]

Co-written with [info]idont_fightfair and [info]letme_showyou

The piano music playing was a CD but it was music that Edward had written. Nessie had spent all day with the Cullen women being coiffed, buffed, pampered and polished. Her nails and toes were done and Rose had worked with her hair for hours getting it to hang down in loose curls. She'd wanted to put it up and Nessie had insisted that it be left down. Jacob liked her hair down. Alice had brought an end to the whole argument when she told Rose to let it go, Nessie wins this one. Her dress was perfect, white, sleeveless halter style; casual enough but still very much what she once would have called a 'princess' dress. She was wearing four inch heels in an attempt to make up some of the height difference between her and Jacob. She took a deep breath and glanced out the window at the yard Alice had transformed. The trees had lost their leaves but Alice had replaced them with tiny, white lights woven through the bare limbs. Garlands of white flowers draped the chairs and formed an aisle for her to walk down. Edward's baby grand piano had been moved outside and electric space heaters, close to the ground dotted the yard. Night had fallen particularly early, Nessie thought; like her it had been unable to wait. Her stomach didn't flutter with butterflies and her feet weren't cold at all. Instead she wanted to tell everyone to sit down, hurry up and please, please let her finally get to Jacob.

Nervous didn't even begin to describe what Jacob felt as he stood beneath the archway that Alice had fashioned by combining and weaving several limbs from two different trees. He was pretty sure she had actually made Jasper and Emmett do it. Entwined with the branches were the same strings of lights that seemed to be everywhere else. Jacob wore the cargo khaki pants and white tank that Alice had said he could wear. On top of that was the dark leather coat. His arms were folded tight over his chest. This all seemed like overkill for tying the knot. Why, when the music was playing on a CD player, was there a grand piano outside? Aside from the few humans present, they could all see just fine in the dark without the plethora of twinkle lights strewn everywhere. And space heaters? Personally, he was burning up.

He was actually using his evaluation of the spectacle to cover up the fears that were welling up inside of him. If he let himself dwell on all of the uncertainties inside, he was worried that he would do something that would ruin the day for Renesmee. And how could he not be nervous. He was standing up here in front of all of the Cullens, his family and his Pack. Accelerated growth aside, Renesmee had only been born seven years ago. They had only decided to get married a little over a week ago and were under pressure and time restraints for completely different reasons entirely. Everything was happening so fast that he barely had time to get his bearings and completely think things through. All of this made him wonder if he was doing the right thing or not.

As he stood there, his jitters began to win out. He drew a deep, slow breath as his fingertips began to tap rapidly against his own forearm as he shifted his weight from foot to foot. It was just when he was about to demand to see Renesmee that he felt a sense of calm wash over him. Immediately he looked over to Jasper who was staring intently in his direction. Next to him, Alice was beaming innocently. Jacob rolled his eyes and nodded. Normally he would have protested Jasper affecting his emotions in any way. But this wasn't normal... not by a long shot. Fears quelled, that little bit of excitement made itself known and the corners of his lips twitched into an almost smile.

The only nerves Nessie felt hit her right about the time Edward and Bella guided her down the steps. Halfway down nerves washed over her, trickling down her back and she stopped abruptly. It only took a moment to remind herself that this was Jacob. There was no reason to be nervous, only there were a million reasons to be nervous. And they will all be alright because it's Jacob and me.

"You know, you don't have to do this if you don't want to. Imprinted or not," Edward whispered to Nessie. "We could skip off to Europe somewhere." Nessie rolled her eyes at Edward and shook her head.

"I could have told you he was going to say that and I'm not Alice," Bella laughed, rolling her eyes along with Nessie. They disappeared with that tiny bit of normality.

She placed her hand on Edward's arm and tugged him down the staircase until they reached the foot of the stairs. She took a deep breath as they reached the French doors leading out into the back yard. Her eyes immediately went to Jacob standing underneath the arch and she ducked her head, a smile curving her lips. Edward and Bella walked her down the aisle, whispering every few feet for her to slow down. Nessie was pretty sure her parents had never moved so slow in their entire lives. Finally they reached the arch and the preacher asked who was giving her away.

The moment Jacob saw Renesmee walk out to the spacious area behind the Cullen home, his eyes locked with hers. She was beautiful, as always. But it didn't quell the nerves still bubbling beneath the surface. In fact, his heart pounded louder. He was sure most of the wedding party could hear it and that in itself was kind of annoying. He didn't like being nervous in front of the Cullens, even after all these years.

It felt as if an eternity passed between the house and where Alice had told him to stand across the yard. The moment she was in front of him, a corner of his lips tugged into a boyish, half-grin.

"Who gives this woman away?" The preacher asked.

There was a beat before Edward answered. "Her mother and I." He then handed over Renesmee's hand to Jacob, from cold to steaming hot.

Dimly Nessie heard her father say something but it didn't really register because Jacob was reaching out and folding her hand in his.

Jacob took that delicate, familiar hand in his. Her hand was freezing after being held by her father's. Edward and Bella moved away, but really he didn't notice that. The preacher began to speak, but he didn't notice that either. The words were there, but his feelings overrode them. His feelings had always over shadowed anything anyone else had said in regards to Nessie and himself. He found himself getting lost in her and he kind of liked being so lost. So it was, when posed the most important question in the whole ceremony that he didn't say anything. The truth was that he had said 'I do' a million times before.

The preacher cleared his throat. "Jacob?"

"What?" Jacob asked, finally tearing his eyes away from Renesmee. "Oh. Uhm, yeah." He grinned at his bride again half playful and half apologetic. "I do."

In response, Nessie grinned and stuck her tongue out at Jacob a bit. The preacher nodded and looked to Renesmee. "And do you, Renesmee Carlie Cullen, take this man to be your lawful wedded husband, to have and to hold as long as we both shall live?"

She sobered, biting her bottom lip, the smile still tugging at the corners of her lips. She nodded first, words sticking in her throat. "Forever and ever," she responded just as she had when she was little. "I do."

The preacher said some more things, talking about marriages and commitments. Nessie just wanted him to hurry up. There was never such a danger of her strangling a human in her entire life as there was at that moment. Her heart was thrumming as quickly as a hummingbird's and she kept having to remind herself to breathe. It wasn't from nerves but anticipation and excitement. After a lecture that Nessie was pretty sure would rival that of any of her college professors, the preacher said the only words she was listening for:

"I now pronounce you man and wife. Jacob, you may kiss your bride."

Again, the preacher was tuned out by both bride and groom. It was only when Renesmee's lips broke out into a full smile that Jacob grinned and leaned in to press a kiss gently to her lips. Within seconds a gentle kiss grew deeper and more sensual. Jacob was sure that the whistle and hollar to get a room was from Emmett. He pulled back and cast a glare in his general direction before taking Renesmee's hand. The music once again began and he found himself lucky that Renesmee knew what she was doing. She led him back through everyone towards the house.

Nessie had practically been counting on a comment like that from Emmett. He wouldn't have been Emmett otherwise. The main room in the house was decked out with decorations and stocked with enough food to feed an army; the pack is all there so they'd need it. Flashbulbs were popping as Nessie tugged Jacob toward the house and into the main room. For one moment, it was just the two of them in the room. Nessie was still grinning, biting her bottom lip as she leaned in to tug him down and kiss him briefly.

"Think we could just run away right now?" she half giggled.

Jacob smirked lightly. "Don't we wish..." Honestly, right now he would run anywhere that was not this crowded room where all the attention was on them and love it. Even the forest sounded good. But then the crowd from outside started spilling in, milling around and congratulating them. Nessie didn't mind the crowd much because it was primarily made up of vampires and wolves. That didn't mean that she wasn't ready to slip out but she tried to take a deep breath and enjoy everything. After all, she wouldn't make him do this again for at least twenty years or so. Jacob took it mostly in stride, trying to remain focused on just a few things; no matter what, it was going to be a long night, the room smelled of really good food and his stomach was already growling, and most importantly, he had just married a pretty girl... his girl. For so much hoopla, the wedding had lasted only moments. Sure, there were still pressures and stresses. But now they had several lifetimes to figure it all out.
